SWA South County Station in Delray Reopens

A transfer station operated by the Solid Waste Authority (SWA) in the southern region of Palm Beach County resumed operations on Monday following a fatal accident in Delray Beach.

In an announcement, SWA representatives reported that the incident took place at the crossroads of Linton Boulevard and Southwest Fourth Avenue.

The collision involved an SWA tractor-trailer, but it was confirmed that the driver of the SWA vehicle did not sustain any injuries.

The scene of the accident was cleared shortly before 3:30 p.m., allowing the transfer station to reopen and start accepting both waste and recyclable materials again.

Anticipating potentially longer wait times on Monday, it was advised that the South County Transfer Station would extend its operating hours by an extra hour, remaining open until 6 p.m.

Additionally, haulers and local residents have the option to utilize the Southwest County Transfer Station, situated at 13400 South State Road 7, west of Delray Beach, for their waste and recycling needs until 5 p.m.

The Delray Beach Police Department shared on X that an investigation into the collision is underway.

Further specifics regarding the incident have not been disclosed.
