Palm Beach County Secures $7 Million for Major Infrastructure Upgrades

Palm Beach County is set to receive more than $7 million in federal funding to improve roads, bridges, and essential water systems across multiple communities.

The funding will support six major infrastructure projects, many of which are already in early planning stages. Local leaders say the upgrades will improve safety, reduce costs, and create jobs.

One of the largest projects is the rehabilitation of the 61-year-old Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard Bridge, which will receive $1 million. Planned improvements include wider lanes, better barriers, and multi-use paths for pedestrians and cyclists.

Another key project is the Fern Street Extension in downtown West Palm Beach, funded with $2 million. The plan includes a new rail crossing, bike lanes, and improved sidewalks to ease congestion and support ongoing development in the area.

A significant portion of the funding will address aging water and sewer systems.

In Lantana, over $1 million will modernize water treatment controls, improving reliability. Delray Beach will receive $1.45 million to upgrade drainage, sewer lines, and water systems in flood-prone neighborhoods.

Boynton Beach is set to receive $800,000 to repair aging sewer pipes, helping prevent leaks and improve public health.

Additionally, Dreher Park in West Palm Beach will receive $1 million to upgrade its water filtration system and enhance the park’s usability.

Officials say these investments will not only strengthen infrastructure but also boost economic growth and improve quality of life for residents across the county.

With projects rolling out over the coming years, the funding marks a major step toward a more resilient and modern Palm Beach County.
